Inspired by a sense of the game's playful timelessness, the tender yet twisted story and, inevitably, twisted world events coincident with its production, the After Light Fades album began as a defiantly uncomplicated chamber music composition for recorder quartet, harp and organ: conversations we're not having.

However, the game's apparent chequer board simplicity quickly splinters into thousands of confounding impossibilities when attempting to achieve the protagonist's objectives, and so the music splinters and mirrors the reflective mood of much of the gameplay in ways that electronics are well suited to.

Reflective pieces make up the heart of the album.

The organ and, where possible, other instruments are tuned using pure fifths and thirds.
